Microfinance is about giving poor, creative people access to small loans and financial services so that they can obtain a steady income and a secure future.

Culture has its place in many of Strømme Foundation’s projects, both within education and microfinance. But through the Culture Initiative we also work more specifically with culture.

Every year more than 3000 Norwegian teenagers scream for justice. SKRIK is the relief campaign of the confirmation candidates from the Lutheran church.

In rural Bangladesh girls as young as twelve or thirteen are given away in marriage. Strømme Foundation’s Shonglap programme has given Bithika Mondal (13) prospects for a better future. Her parents have decided to postpone giving her away to get married.

Jamila (12) has never attended school. Not until Strømme Foundation’s Speed School came to her village almost one year ago.

In the Mathare slum four friends are running a hair salon. They started the salon with the help of microfinance.
